Africa-USA
Tri-Lateral Trade and Investment Conference
Our conference theme for this year -
“Africa
Trade Not Aide”
– is inspired by the recent G8 Economic
Conference decision to begin the process of debt
elimination for the 53 nation states of Africa.
The public must be educated as to how this
process will be conducted and the impact it will
have on each nation’s current efforts to develop
a national economy. The conference will also
provide a forum for educating the public
regarding current investment opportunities,
strategies and procedures. The concurrent
African Trade
Pavilion will provide an additional
opportunity to educate the public on Africa’s
products, services and investment opportunities,
promote tourism, and project a positive image of
the continent to the trade and business sectors
and the people of Southern California.
AfUSA
will also use this conference to announce the
establishment of the
“Africa-USA
Prize for Leadership”© award. This
program will be launched as an ongoing effort to
monitor Africa’s compliance with the G8’s
requirements for debt relief which include:
1.
Leadership & Fiscal Accountability
2.
Transparency and the Elimination of Corruption
3.
Human Rights Protection and Enforcement
4.
Economic Development & Reconstruction
5.
Environmental & Public Health
6.
The Alleviation of Poverty via Job Creation
7.
Technology and Capacity Building
