Most of us have had an opportunity to have a tasty cold glass of
lemonade, but “Melonade”? That’s right “Melonade”! Great comedians
like Jamie Foxx, Steve Harvey and many others know what it’s like to
turn a joke into a profit. And so does founder of Watts Coffee
House, Desiree Edwards.
Those famous combination candy cups of chocolate and peanut
butter-- “Hey you put your chocolate in my peanut butter!”-- had a
serendipity effect that became one of the most known and appreciated
candies in the world. An "accident-turned-profit" may be said about
the creation of “Melonade” which sounds like it’s on its way to
becoming a phenomenon after speaking with Desiree.
"It all took place on a Tuesday morning," said Desiree. "Before
opening, one of the employees decided to take a break and have some
watermelon. I joked 'You should have some of our World
Famous Lemonade with that,'" Desiree said, laughing with the crew as
they made a drink of the two. In amazement everyone was surprised of
how delicious it tasted and from that day Melonade was born.
Yes, in the heart of Watts the fresh blended combination of
watermelon juice and lemonade has arrived to soothe and cool our
palates. Nothing could be more refreshing this summer! So in
addition to the world famed Watts Towers, you can also add a stop at
“Watts Coffee House” for a cold tall glass of “Melonade” to your
itinerary.
