ABOUT THE

West Coast Fashion Summit

The Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show is celebrating its 16th year of bringing exciting shows to the Los Angeles Convention Center. We attract over 70,000 annually. The West Coast Fashion Summit was a vision of Executive Director Harold Hambrick in 1997. Its success is due to the professional team he has assembled:

Myra Wallace: In her fifth year as the West Coast Fashion Summit's Director & Producer, Ms Wallace has taken this industry by storm and is recognized for her classic collaboration of Business & Fashion. With more than fifteen years experience in fashion, she is most known for her last venture, internationally know Big & Tall apparel line MKO Man. She has been afforded the opportunity to work in almost every facet of the industry. Myra began sewing at the age of 6, and has worked in the world of apparel under the various titles of Designer, President/CEO, Marketing, Fashion Consulting, Fashion Editor, Advertising Director, Producer, Stylist, Manufacturer, Product Development and Runway Modeling Instructor. This year Myra took on an even larger piece of the pie producing & directing the Expo's West Coast Fashion Show & Hair Show. The diversity of her background and her faith in God is what Myra attributes her overwhelming success and most recent demand on her time Her motto: Trust God, believe in yourself & dare to dream" as she believes the only limits one has, are the ones you put on yourself.

Davide Stennett: This is his second year with WCFS and he goes above and beyond to train the newcomers we find in our model search and develop the talent of the seasoned models the show is built around.Director, photographer, marketing impresario, entrepreneur, artist -- These are just a few of the facets that make up the understated complexity of Davide (Pronounced Dah- veed). The harmonious combination of these faculties make him one of the most sought-after and notable creative marketing talents across a broad range of industries. From directing films, videos and live projects, corporate identity & image consultation, to marketing, advertising, writing and photography, Davide serves as the consummate artistic eye for companies and individuals in search of creative identity. "If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything," is one of the rules by which he lives. "I just hope to be an example of what is possible, even for a little Jamaican boy, when you dream big, keep GOD on your side and work smart!"

Nekia Hattley- J’aire

Nekia Hattley was born in Los Angeles to a family soon blasted by her creative juices.  Bitten by the “fashion bug” at the young age of six, Nekia refined her skills over the years, later attending LA Trade Technical College as her choice for fashion.  It was there that she received a number of certificates along with taking first place for her entry in the men’s category of the 2003 Golden Thimble.  Also while attending Trade Tech, Nekia was hearten to start her own clothing line, J’aire, named after her sister, who is the essence of what her clothing stands for: Beauty, fun, uniqueness, craziness, creativity and sexy. Nekia believes no matter what the venue or special event, J’aire will be the raiment of choice when you want to step and and “Dare to be Seen”.

Adrian Evans- Drini

From Adrian’s earliest memories, she had an interest in the flair and expressive nature of fashion.  Fascinated by how clothes and make-up gave people the ability to express and demonstrate their individual personalities and moods, she always enjoyed the imaginative freedom fashion allowed individuals.  For most of her young life, Adrian was often frustrated and humiliated by the ritual fo finding clothes that not only accentuated her voluptuous femal form, but also expressed her fun-loving and artistic personality.  In 2003, Adrian earned an AA degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). While working projects that include proms, special events, styling and make-up consulting, Adrian is well on her way to opening new doors to the untapped market of plus size contemporary clothing.  Excited to see what her God given talents will allow her to accomplish, Adrian believes that daring to be different is the only way to live your life, she created the saying, “what’s the point of being you, if you’re like everybody else?”
