Resolution

 16th Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show

WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show (LABBETS) will conduct its 16th Annual event on September 10, 11 & 12, 2004 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Tom Bradley Hall; and

WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show started in 1998 as a means to provide exposure to and empower otherwise obscure black-owned businesses so they can grow and hire community citizens; an 

WHEREAS, LABBETS’ mission is supporting the development and growth of African-American business enterprises (approximately 39,000 businesses in the L.A. Metropolitan area, with revenue of over 4.5 billion) through business promotions, consumer education and training, and financing; and 

WHEREAS, over 500 corporate and small businesses from the Los Angeles are will exhibit products and services to over 70,000 attendees; and

WHEREAS, Friday, September 10th celebrates Businesses and Youth; Saturday, September 11th celebrates Women and Families; Saturday, September 12th celebrates Churches; and

WHEREAS, LABBETS’ sponsors include OneUnited Bank, Premier Spomsors: Farmers, Comerica, City of Los Angeles, Secure Horizons /PacifiCare; Sponsors: Lawry’s Foods, AARP, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, Union Back of California, Xerox, KJLH, 100.3 The Beat, LA Watts Times, Los Angeles Sentinel, The Wave

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that by the adoption of this resolution the Los Angeles City Council hereby congratulates LABBETS and declare September 10, 11 & 12, 2004, Los Angeles Black Business Weekend in Los Angeles. 

AND, we extend best wishes for continued success.
