New at Expo 2004
Announcing the SoulJourn Travel Pavilion!
Plus, The Wedding is
Back!
Before I say anything, please don't
forget to vote! Today (March 2!)
This month, we are excited to announce our partnership
with Patrick Riley's SoulJourn Magazine. Riley has agreed to
spearhead the Travel Pavilion and is planning all kinds of exciting
travel related activities. To read the details,
Last year, for the first time in six
years, we decided not to do the Expo's Africentric Wedding. Many
of you called to ask about how to enter to win the wedding . There was
so much disappointment that there wouldn't be one, I decided to
reinstate the wedding!
Now, to host the lavish wedding as we
have in the past, we need your help in spreading the word to sponsors
for the Expo in general.
Click here to download a flyer you can post in your businesses
and places you frequent. Stay tuned for details!
Looking for a restaurant? A
Black-owned store? A Black Media Outlet? Before you buy, check out the
Directory! It's The Place to Go for Something to Do in Los
Angeles/Southern California.
Until next month,

Harold Hambrick

Let's Talk About Haiti: Rumors were
flying all day March 1 about the
way
Haitian President Jean Bertrand Aristide left office in the
strife-filled Haiti. Since he has personal relationships with
African American leaders in the U.S. including Cong. Maxine Waters
and Rev. Jesse Jackson, we were getting reports that
conflicted with media reports that he fled the island nation. Aristide
told them he was kidnapped. Click here to
find a plethora of links to various stories from various sources.
Thanks to Terry Goodman for sending these links.

A
Family Moves Forward
Photo and
story by Stan Thomas
"The last 12 months have also been a cause for celebration in
our family. Our third nephew, Kyree, was born in December. Our family
continues to grow. Not only is the family growing through birth, it is
growing by marriage. Two weeks ago, our own son got married at the young
age of 21. I think I just aged 10 years."

"The Passion" And The Truth?
By Kwaku
Person-Lynn, Ph.D.
There has been a
clarion call for the scholarly community to respond to the depiction of
Jesus, the Christ in the latest religious Hollywood blockbuster "The
Passion Of The Christ." A subterranean discussion has continued for
decades centered on whether Jesus was a Black man.

FULL CIRCLE (Pt. II)
by Mikel T. Kilgour

If one would have told me a year
ago that I, Mikel Kilgour (fashion designer,
writer, historian, etc.), would be
writing a story about me, Michael Kilgore
(artist), I would most likely not
have believed them.

I am very moved by the work of Michael Kilgore.
His cubist style aside African images was most
impressive to me, along with the juxtaposition
of vibrant color and shades of gray.

WANT TO PRINT EXPO UPDATE?
To Print Expo Update in Landscape Mode, go to "Print." Then select
"Properties." While each printer is different, there is usually a tab
that says "Layout" and there you can select "Landscape" as opposed to
Portrait (Or vertical) mode. Printing in landscape should allow you to
print the entire page (It may be about 12 pages!)
