TAX TIPS

Standard Mileage Rate for Business Vehicle Usage

If you use your car or truck for business purposes, you'll be pleased to learn that the optional standard mileage rate for the cost of operating your car, van, panel truck, or pickup has been increased from 36 cents per mile in 2003 to 37.5 cents per mile for 2004.

Health Insurance Premiums for the Self-employed

The deduction for health insurance premiums for self-employed persons was at 70% for 2002. It increased to 100% in 2003 and for years thereafter. This percentage represents the portion of your premiums that you're able to deduct on the front page of Form 1040 without application of the usual medical expenses deduction limitations that apply on Schedule A.

For more tax tips, click here or call The Tax Man at (323) 294-0253.

 SPECIAL REPORT

THE LAUNCHING OF A.A.D. - ATHLETIC ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

HONORING AN AFRICAN - AMERICAN
FASHION DESIGN ICON

Greetings Cyberstyle readers...I know its been a minute since my last story and I hope all is well with you and yours. As for me, I've been consumed with launching a new company called A.A.D. - ATHLETIC ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT.

The concept, began about four years ago when my wife and I were designing
clothes for CHERYL MILLER and then, we started doing some interior design
work for her as well. At first, I thought the company would be a joint venture involving Ms. Miller but ultimately, I decided to make it happen alone...Cheryl is, however, a super human-being! Essentially, A.A.D. is the first, full - service

Black. White. Watched All Over

Story by: Stan Thomas

What’s all the buzz about the new FX show Black. White.? Simply put, two families, one Black, one White, share a home in Tarzana, California and trade experiences. Through state-of-the-art make-up, the White family becomes Black and vice-versa. But what they each experience during the six-part series has no simple explanation.

FX has a hit on their hands. Click to continue

Wear Your History With Pride:  The Parkers Launch Our Legacy Legends

Andre and Gail Parker, longtime entrepreneurs, have launched www.OurLegacyLegends.com   an online portal for high quality, licensed, commemorative sports apparel, featuring the Tuskegee Airmen, Buffalo Soldiers, and the Negro Leagues.

Andre got the idea to go into businesses when he would wear his Tuskegee Airmen and Buffalo T-Shirts. And would receive many inquiries about where to get them. After buying for coworkers, he decided to begin distributing them.

His wife, Gail Parker, a pioneering web designer, created the online store which offers wool jackets, hoodies, jerseys, sweatshirts, T-shirts and caps.

The online store was launched April 1, 2006 in honor of Black Business Month.  Orders can be placed by credit card or a form can be downloaded and mailed.  For more information visit www.ourlegacylegends.com  email ourlegacylegends@yahoo.com  or call (213) 507-1268.

Take Your Family to THE OASIS

Folks have been raving about the Oasis Restaurant in Inglewood, so my friend Donna (in from NJ--pictured above) and I decided to check it out.  We had such a good time, and you've really gotta meet Ms. Vera who makes you feel right at home. I must say that meal stays on my mind.  Not usually a meat eater, I ordered the prime rib and fell in love.  Talked to owner George Ifeorah, who hails from Nigeria, and he said the best time to come is for lunch which runs from 11:30 AM  to 3 PM or  dinner, from 5-10 PM, Monday through Friday.  The weekend hours are:  Saturdays -11:30 AM to 3 PM and Dinner is from 4 PM to 10 PM. On Sundays, he has a special menu, all inclusive from noon til 4 PM that ranges between 25 and 35, from appetizer to dessert.  This is an exquisite special restaurant for special occasions, a little pricey but very well worth every penny.--IPL

In Memoriam: Kevin Haywood, Designer, Kevolution

We regret to inform you of the sudden passing of Kevin Haywood, Designer of Kevolution.  He showed his line in the 2004 Expo Fashion show to great reviews.

There is much that can be said about this young man, but the most outstanding fact is he overcame physical challenges to compete in the tough world of fashion design and was able to amass an A-list clientele. We will miss his loving spirit and wish his family our deepest condolences.  --Myra Wallace
